A Word from Our Pastor

Dear First Family,

It’s a great day to worship! It’s a tremendous day to join with the greatest family in the world—the church! It’s a wonderful day to be exposed to the guidance of God’s Word! I’m very glad you are here.

This morning, we continue in our study of the Gospel of Mark, as we look at one of Jesus’ first parables, The Parable of the Sower.

Remember this as we study…

I used to read this story as though these various soils were 4 different kinds of people, who remained the same all through their lifetimes. But I’ve come to see that what our Lord is describing here is not 4 types of persons, so much, but conditions of our heart at any given moment. Whenever the Word is being taught, people are in one condition or another. We’ve all been callous, at times. We’ve all been emotional & shallow. We’ve all been overly worried about other matters. And we’ve all had times of being open & responsive to the Word. The question is how are we receiving God’s Word at this moment?

If I were to boil this sermon down to one sentence, here’s what it would be:

The spiritual impact of a Bible message isn’t based on the content of the message; it depends on how the Word is HEARD & RECEIVED.

Today, let’s hear and receive well!
Dr. Danny
