A Word from Our Pastor

Good morning, First Baptist Family!

Well, it is here! VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL WEEK! It’s only the most important week in the annual ministry of our church. I am so excited to be used by God in the lives of children and families.

Our kids will be learning about the leading disciple of Jesus, Simon Peter. They’ll learn that Peter followed Jesus; he walked to Jesus on the water; he denied Jesus, yet was restored; he preached boldly about Jesus; and then he told the Roman officer, Cornelius, about Jesus.

Today, we will get a head start by learning from the amazing moment when Peter walked on the water! He was a WATER WALKER!

We will begin planning for the upcoming fiscal year in the next few weeks. If you would like to give input or submit a recommendation, contact Jeff Fitzhugh. Committees and Ministry Teams should submit recommendations by Sunday, July 24.

Student Ministry

There will be no normal weekly activities this week because of VBS and everyone is helping out. The youth will be gong to Chili’s for dinner on Wednesday. Meet at the FLC at 6pm and we will head over together.

Children’s Ministry

VBS Kids Check in this week:

Come to our Family Kick off tonight @ 6pm and kids can get their group assignment and you get to skip by Registration tables tomorrow to check them in”.

Kids may be checked in starting at 12:30pm each day. (Parents must walk them to their group)

Pick up time is 5pm in the Sanctuary. On the last day be sure to stay afterwards for some more Kona Ice and fun!

Online Registration is closed but new kids can register the entire week of VBS in person!

Music Ministry

No Worship Team or Celebration Choir This week due to VBS.

Solid Rockers: Will not meet during Summer

Body Recall

Each week (M-W-F) we offer a class that emphasizes strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. The class meets in the FLC at 9 am and is led by

Jimmie Buchanan.

Beloved Ladies

We will take a break for the summer months . Meetings to resume at the start of the new 2023-2024 year in September.

Find a Place to Serve

Good News Cafe

Team members prepare and serve a free hot meal to people in our community, ministering and praying for those who attend.
Meals are served from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Our Good News Café will be taking a break June 19 thru July 10.
Grace Community will be hosting during those weeks.

Good News Clubs

Team members lead Bible clubs for CISD Elementary Schools. Our club for Elementary Schools meets on Tuesdays during the CISD school year. To help, contact Michelle Purifoy @ 214-529-5233.

Greeter Ministry

Team members assist families with check-in, collect information from guests, and help guide visitors to the appropriate group.

Safety Team

Team members work to provide a safe environment for church members during worship services and other church events. This team also provides leadership during emergency situations.

Media/Tech Ministry

Team members help coordinate tech support for worship services. We are currently seeking a member to help operate the lights.

Food For Fitness

Food For Fitness

We have an opening for a team member to prepare meals on Friday every two or three months. Funds are provided. You will need to purchase and prepare the meals. Starts in July. Contact the Church Office if interested.
