A Word from Our Pastor

Good morning, FBC!

Waiting patiently is not a strong suit in American society!  And that’s a good reason for us to take another look at the story of Jesus and disciples on the Sea of Galilee.  You see, Matthew 14:22-33 is a story about waiting.  Jesus forced the disciples to wait.

Why did He do this?  Because there are lessons to learn in the waiting!

Today, I pray that we will discover this truth – “What God does in us while we wait is as important as what it is that we are waiting for!”

ATTENTION:  FBC has fully committed to being a part of the “Take America Back to God” movement.  I hope you’ll be able to attend the huge event in Mesquite, TX on Sept 9.  Tickets are on sale today in the Welcome Center!

Are you overwhelmed by the godlessness sweeping across our world and flooding every corner of cyberspace? Are you disillusioned that the most vitriolic voices in debates are sometimes those of people calling themselves Christians? In this five-part series, Berni Dymet explores how Jesus engaged with and responded to people who were hostile toward Him. In Jesus’ example, we find a way to hold tight to the truth, while speaking it in love.

Children’s Ministry

Kids Praise

We offer children’s worship during the 11:00am service. Parents should sign in kids on the landing before service or when dismissed. Children can be picked up on the 4^th floor.

Music Ministry

Worship Practice/Rehearsal

WorshipTeam meets Wednesday at 5:15pm in the Sanctuary.

Celebration Choir will resume rehearsals August 16.

Solid Rockers Choir will resume rehearsals in the fall.

Body Recall

Each week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we offer a class that emphasizes strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. The class meets at 9 am in FLC and is led by Jimmie Buchanan, our local Body Recall expert. Jimmie Buchanan is celebrating her 24th year leading Body Recall.

Good News Cafe

Good News Cafe/Closet

On Mondays, team members prepare and serve a free hot meal to people in our community, ministering and praying for those who attend. Meals are served from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
We also distribute donated clothes

Good News Club

Team members help lead a Bible club for various CISD elementary schools in the fall and spring.

Training is scheduled for Saturday, August 5 @ 9:00am in Fellowship Hall. Training ends at noon for returning volunteers and goes to 4:00pm for new volunteers.

Greeter Ministry

Team members assist families with check-in, collect information from guests, and help guide visitors to the appropriate group.

Safety Team

Team members work to provide a safe environment for church members during worship services and other church events. This team also provides leadership during emergency situations.

Media/Tech Ministry

Team members help coordinate tech support for worship services. We are currently seeking a member to help operate the lights.

Food For Fitness

We have an opening for a team member to prepare meals on Friday every two or three months. Funds are provided. You will need to purchase and prepare the meals. Starts in July. Contact the Church Office if interested.

Guest Services
