Weekly Prayer Focus (1)

Prayer

By Rebecca Clopp

MONDAY

“If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)—in accordance with the commandments and teachings of man?

These are matters which do have the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and humility and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.”‭‭

Colossians‬ ‭2:20-23‬ ‭NASB

When a person becomes a Christian, he or she is given a new life through the power of the Holy Spirit. Although we have a new self, we don’t automatically think all good thoughts and have all pure attitudes when we become new people in Christ. Change may be slow, but your life will change significantly if you PLACE your TRUST in the hands of God. Our salvation does not depend on our own discipline and rule-keeping, but on the power of Christ’s death and resurrection. (Life Application Study Bible.)

Only trust Him, only trust Him, Only trust Him now; He will save you, He will save you, He will save you now. PRAY!

TUESDAY

What Christians Should Do

“Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

Colossians 3:1-2 NASB

Setting our minds on things above means striving to put heaven’s priorities into daily practice. We must set our minds on the eternal rather than the temporal. (Life Application Study Bible. )

“The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬ ‭NASB

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.”

Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ ‭NASB

‭‭WEDNESDAY

 HIDING PLACE

“For you have died and your life is HIDDEN with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory”.

Colossians 3:3-4 NASB

What does it mean that a believer’s life is “HIDDEN with Christ”? Concealed and safe! This is not only future hope, but an accomplished fact right now. Our service and conduct do not earn our salvation, but they are results of our salvation. Live each day for Christ. ( Life Application Study Bible.)

Hidden with Christ in God

Author: Leonard C. Voke

1 Hidden with Christ in God,

Dead to the world am I;

Treading the path that Jesus trod,

Leading to heav’n on high;

Yet I know as I onward plod,

My life is “hidden with Christ in God.”

2 Hidden with Christ in God,

Death cannot harm my soul,

He died that I might live again,

His blood has made me whole,

E’en when resting beneath the sod,

My life is “hidden with Christ in God.”

PRAY and Hide His Word in your Heart!

THURSDAY

“Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.

For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience, and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.

But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.

Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him— a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all”.

Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭11‬ ‭NASB

Believers must have a daily commitment and remain true to their confession of faith.

Out with the old way of life and in with the new way—given by Christ and led by the Holy Spirit. ( Life Application Study Bible).

Speak to my Heart Lord Jesus!

FRIDAY

“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.

Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”‭‭

Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬-‭17‬ ‭NASB

Honor Christ in every aspect of your life!

SATURDAY

PRAISE GOD

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow

Author: Thomas Ken (1674)

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In loveIn Christ we have all the benefits of knowing.

Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NASB

‭‭God— being chosen for salvation, being adopted as His children, forgiveness, insight, the gifts of the Spirit, power to do God’s will, the hope of living with Christ. Because we have a intimate relationship with Christ we are able to enjoy these blessings now. ( Life Application Study  Bible)

Take time and enjoy your Heavenly Father.

SUNDAY

My Faith Has Found A Resting Place

Eliza Edmunds Hewitt 1891

1 My faith has found a resting place,

from guilt my soul is freed;

I trust the ever-living One,

his wounds for me shall plead.

Refrain:

I need no other argument,

I need no other plea,

it is enough that Jesus died,

and that he died for me.

2 Enough for me that Jesus saves,

this ends my fear and doubt;

a sinful soul, I come to him,

he’ll never cast me out. [Refrain]

3 My heart is leaning on the Word,

the written Word of God,

salvation by my Savior’s name,

salvation thro’ his blood. [Refrain]

4 My great Physician heals the sick,

the lost he came to save;

for me his precious blood he shed,

for me his life he gave. [Refrain]

“who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your FAITH and HOPE are in God.”

1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬ ‭NASB‭
