Prayer

By Rebecca Clopp

MONDAY

“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And I find knowledge and discretion. “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride, arrogance, the evil way, And the perverted mouth, I hate.”

Proverbs‬ ‭8:12-13‬ ‭NASB

‭‭“A wise person will hear and increase in learning, And a person of understanding will acquire wise counsel,”

Proverbs‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NASB

“So I will punish the world for its evil And the wicked for their wrongdoing; I will also put an end to the audacity of the proud And humiliate the arrogance of the tyrants.”

Isaiah‬ ‭13:11‬ ‭NASB

‭‭The more a person fears and respects God, the more he or she will hate evil. Love for God and love for sin cannot coexist. Harboring secret sins means that you are tolerating evil within yourself. Make a clean break with sin and commit yourself completely to God. (Life Application Study Bible.)

TUESDAY

Christ’s presence at the beginning of the world.

“The Lord created me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old. “From eternity I was established, From the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth. “When there were no ocean depths, I was born, When there were no springs abounding with water. “Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills, I was born; While He had not yet made the earth and the fields, Nor the first dust of the world. “When He established the heavens, I was there; When He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep, When He made firm the skies above, When the springs of the deep became fixed, When He set a boundary for the sea So that the water would not violate His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth;

Then I was beside Him, as a master workman; And I was His delight daily, Rejoicing always before Him, Rejoicing in the world, His earth, And having my delight in the sons of mankind.”

Proverbs‬ ‭8:22-31‬ ‭NASB

‭‭“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: for by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:15-17‬ ‭NASB

Praise God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit! Amen.

WEDNESDAY

Wisdom’s Invitation

“Wisdom has built her house, She has carved out her seven pillars; She has prepared her food, she has mixed her wine; She has also set her table; She has sent out her attendants, she calls out From the tops of the heights of the city: “Whoever is naive, let him turn in here!”

To him who lacks understanding she says, “Come, eat of my food And drink of the wine I have mixed. “Abandon your foolishness and live, And proceed in the way of understanding.” One who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And one who rebukes a wicked person gets insults for himself.

Do not rebuke a scoffer, or he will hate you; Rebuke a wise person and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise person and he will become still wiser; Teach a righteous person and he will increase his insight.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭9:1-10‬ ‭NASB

Ask the Lord to give you wisdom and understanding as you pray.

THURSDAY

“So I turned to consider wisdom, insanity, and foolishness; for what will the man do who will come after the king, except what has already been done? Then I saw that wisdom surpasses foolishness as light surpasses darkness. The wise person’s eyes are in his head, but the fool walks in darkness. And yet I know that one and the same fate happens to both of them. Then I said to myself, “As is the fate of the fool, it will also happen to me. Why then have I been extremely wise?” So I said to myself, “This too is futility.” For there is no lasting remembrance of the wise, along with the fool, since in the coming days everything will soon be forgotten. And how the wise and the fool alike die!”

Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:12-16‬ NASB

‭‭Wisdom, riches and personal achievement are of no importance after death. We must build our lives on the solid foundation of God. Then even if everything else is taken away, we still will have God, who is all we need anyway. God makes it clear that what we do here has a great impact on our eternal reward. FRIDAY

A TIME FOR EVERYTHING

“There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven. A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace. What benefit is there for the worker from that in which he labors? I have seen the task which God has given the sons of mankind with which to occupy themselves.”

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:1-10‬ ‭NASB

Time. When is there a time for hating? We shouldn’t hate evil people, but we should hate the evil that they do. Pray for the leadership of our country. Those in authority must take a stand for truth and righteousness. Everyone will be held accountable for what they did or didn’t do. Time. It’s always time to honor God. It’s time to flee from personal sin and be restored to a right relationship with our Father in Heaven. (Life Application Study Bible.)

Pray for A Time such as this!

SATURDAY

God Set Eternity In The Heart Of Man

“He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, without the possibility that mankind will find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime; moreover, that every person who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it. And God has so worked, that people will fear Him. That which is, is what has already been, and that which will be has already been; and God seeks what has passed by. Furthermore, I have seen under the sun that in the place of justice there is wickedness and in the place of righteousness, there is wickedness. I said to myself, “God will judge the righteous and the wicked,” for a time for every matter and for every deed is there.” ‭‭The purpose in life is to fear the all-powerful God. To fear God is to respect and stand in awe of him because of who he is. Purpose in life starts with whom we know, not what we know or how good we are. It is impossible to fulfill your God-given purpose unless you honor God and give him first place in your life. (Life Application Study Bible.)

Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:11-17‬ ‭NASB

SUNDAY

 Your Attitude Toward God

“Guard your steps as you go to the house of God, and approach to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know that they are doing evil. Do not be quick with your mouth or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few. For the dream comes through much effort, and the voice of a fool through many words. When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it; for He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow! It is better that you not vow, than vow and not pay. Do not let your speech cause you to sin, and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice, and destroy the work of your hands? For in many dreams and in many words there is futility. Rather, fear God. If you see oppression of the poor and denial of justice and righteousness in the province, do not be shocked at the sight; for one official watches over another official, and there are higher officials over them. After all, a king who cultivates the field is beneficial to the land.”‭‭

Ecclesiastes‬ ‭5:1-9‬ ‭NASB

“Again, you have heard that the ancients were told, ‘ You shall not make false vows, but shall fulfill your vows to the Lord.”

Matthew‬ ‭5:33‬ ‭NASB
