Pastor’s Update: July 2, 2020 (COVID-19)

Pastor's Update

By admin

FBC Family,

Our new “normal” continues to be filled with abnormal things: highs and lows, encouragements and discouragements, and up and downs…BUT God is faithful and God’s Church is still at work! Let me fill you in:

1) Thank you to our VBS TEAM!! Wow! What an amazing effort with Vacation Bible School. We would not let anything stop us from being on the front lines to minister to our young families and children. I want to thank our Dream Team: Krissi Bentz, Rachel Coy, Jerry Ashcraft, Kimmie Cessna, Carrie Phillips, Melissa Jones, Lesley Keltner, Ryan Reeves, Elizabeth Fitzhugh, Morris Applewhite, Olivia Ferrer, Rebecca Coody, Anele Richardson, and Andy Jewell! You were brilliant, and our church celebrates and thanks you for your work for Jesus!

We still have VBS Boxes! This means that VBS is still possible “anytime and anywhere.” Because all of the lessons were recorded and online, you can send a VBS box to family and friends in other towns and states, and they can do VBS. Let’s think like an “Acts 1:8 Church” and make sure many others can learn about Jesus by connecting to our VBS!

2) We currently have a MISSION TEAM IN THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY! Seemingly every other summer ministry event was forced to cancel, but this trip endured. Be praying for Bro. Steve Martinez and our missionaries as they share the Gospel and prepare to return on July 3.

3) As of last Sunday, I was forced to make a decision that I felt was in the best interest of safety for the church. We moved all of our Sunday worship services and our Wednesday studies to be “MANDATORY MASK” events. This change will not last long, but for these few short weeks, please be safe. Also, don’t forget that all Sunday and Wednesday services are online for all of us. Go to fbccana.org and worship from a distance as needed.

4) We are planning a BAPTISM EVENT for Sunday, Aug. 23 at 6pm. On that Sunday evening we will be baptizing new believers at Lake Halbert. If you have considered being obedient in baptism, please contact me soon.

5) Attention all teenagers! Sign-up for YOUTH CAMP. Camp is set for July 16-19 at the Latham Springs Baptist Encampment. Register today! (Also, if you would like to assist a teen to get to camp, contact Logan to assist with their payment.)

6) Mark your calendars for Sunday evening, July 12. We will have CHURCH CONFERENCE in the Sanctuary at 6pm.

More Than Overcomers!
