This is a big week in the life of our church. Please review these important updates.
Dr. Paul Atkinson
We are excited to welcome Dr. Paul Atkinson, who will be preaching for us in both services this morning. Our Pulpit Supply Committee has been working diligently and is unanimously recommending him to serve as our Interim Pastor. Please be in prayer for Dr. Atkinson as he shares God’s Word with us.
Church Conference (6:00PM)
Please make plans to attend our Church Conference tonight at 6:00PM in the Sanctuary. We’ll conduct regular business and address two key items:
- VOTE: To call Dr. Paul Atkinson as Interim Pastor.
- DISCUSS: The proposed 2025-26 budget (attached).
Nomination Deadlines
Pastor Search Committee (Due TODAY):
This is the final day to submit your nomination cards for the Pastor Search Committee. Please remember to confirm that your nominee is willing to serve, and be sure to print and sign your name. Cards can be turned in at the Welcome Center desk.
Committee on Committees (Open until Sept. 14):
We are now receiving nominations for the Committee on Committees, which helps fill positions on our standing committees. You can submit nominations in the Church Office through Sunday, September 14.
Budget Schedule
August 24 – Budget Discussion (Church Conference) without vote.
The formal vote on the FY 2025-26 budget will take place during a Special Called Conference on Sunday, September 7, immediately following the morning worship service. This meeting will be for the vote only, with no additional discussion. If approved, the new budget will go into effect on October 1.
We will be voting on the General Operations budget, property designations from two trust funds, and special designations to missions.

Hope Center Shower
Aug 3–Sep 7
We are sponsoring a shower for the Hope Center. You can pick up a flyer with gift ideas in the Welcome Center. Bring donations to the Welcome Center from now until September 7.

Tuesday @ 6:00PM
We are looking for additional compassionate, Christian team members to help with several roles; training is provided.
Needs include: hospitality, small group discussion, promotion, and recruitment. Contact John or Donna Greenman for more information.
Good News Café
On Mondays, team members prepare and serve a free hot meal to people in our community, ministering and praying for those who attend. Meals are served from 11:00AM to 12:30PM.
Good News Cupboard
We provide a 24/7 cupboard to help those with basic food needs. Non-perishable items can be dropped off at the FLC at any time.
Team members check inventory levels and refill as needed.
Suggested items are tuna pouches, ramen cups, peanut butter.
Good News Club
Tuesday | Aug 26–Sep 23
Team members help lead a Bible club for various CISD elementary schools in the fall and spring. We begin with Fannin Elementary.

Safety Team
Team members work to provide a safe environment for church members during worship services and other church events.
Next Training: Sep 18 (Evacuation Techniques).
Media/Tech Ministry
Team members help coordinate tech support for worship services. You might help with lights, sound, or slide display.
Guest Services
We are looking for smiling faces to welcome families, students, and children to our facility. We need people to assist families with check-in, collect information from guests, and help guide visitors to the appropriate class or group.

Kidspraise
Offered at 11:00AM Service
Parents should register kids on the landing before service or when dismissed. Pick-up is on the 4th floor. Activity packets are also available for kids outside the Sanctuary doors.
We do not offer Kidspraise on last Sunday of the month (August 31).
Sunday School
9:45AM on the 2nd & 4th Floors
We have classes for children from birth to sixth grade. Register in the nursery (preschool kids) or on the 3rd Floor landing (elementary kids).

Body Recall

Three times a week (M-W-F) we offer a class that emphasizes strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. The class meets in the Family Life Center and is led by Jimmie Buchanan.

Join us at every Monday morning for coffee and bibilical discussion based on a variety of topics. It’s a good way to start off the week, so make plans to join us this Monday!
The Daily ArticleMen’s Mystery Dinner
Thursday, August 28 | 6:30PM
Join us once a month for dinner at a surprise location (within 45 minutes) where men can gather for food, conversation, and building relationships. This is scheduled for the 4th Thursday of every month.
Men’s Fall Retreat
Thursday, October 23 | 6:30PM
Join us for a one-night event with men of many walks of life. There will be plenty of food, games, biblical teaching, and fellowship. Registration is $20.
Our Guest Speaker will be John Crowder, Pastor of FBC West.
